OUR BACKGROUND

Music for Healing seeks to bring live music to the people who need it the most - patients in hospitals, in nursing homes, and in other care facilities throughout Maricopa County. We bring volunteer musicians of all backgrounds to these facilities to provide patients with fun, soothing and interactive musical performances. Multiple research studies attest that music has numerous positive effects on the body, such as reducing blood pressure, alleviating stress, improving mood, decreasing depression, and boosting the immune system. By delivering live music to patients of all ages, we provide patients not only with direct access to the healing power of music, but also with an enjoyable outlet for healing. We hope that through this project we are able to change the lonely, cold hospital and care home environment into one that is filled with warmth and fun tunes, while providing better patient experiences and better healthcare outcomes.
